Sunday Bugs: Black and Yellow Mud Dauber Wasp

Sunday Bugs: Black and Yellow Mud Dauber Wasp

This is a Black and Yellow Mud Dauber wasp (Sceliphron caementarium).  These wasps build columnar mud nests in sheltered locations and stock them with spiders they paralyze for their larvae to feed on.  Adult wasps consume flower nectar and sometimes visit hummingbird feeders.
