Coyote Creek Trail: Montague Expwy. to Tasman Dr.

On Saturday D. and I took a walk on the Coyote Creek Trail between Montague Expressway and Tasman Dr.  Here are some of the pics I took.

Montague overpass at the trailhead, and graffiti.

At this time of year the creek itself is a very narrow channel in the very wide creek bed, and the bed is overgrown with grasses and flowers.

Walnuts and prickly pear.

Wild radish, birdfoot trefoil and buckeye butterfly.

Some strange things: video security , rusty junk and mystery objects.

Looking south (upstream), and a view of Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton.

There are a couple of large cisterns in the creek bed.

Looking south.

At the Tasman Dr. overpass we double back down the other side.

There is remarkably little graffiti here.

Blackberry blossoms and a cottonwood leaf.

Revegetation in progress along the channel.

Alligator lizard in a patch of sun.

Wild plums.

The woods hold many mysteries.

Trail ends.
