Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve, Part 1

Last Saturday D. and I took a walk on the North Pond and Sequoia Audubon Trails at Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve, and I took some pics.

The North Pond Trail.

North Pond.

California aster and bull thistle.

Looking back down the North Pond Trail.

A western fence lizard hides in the brush alongside the trail.

A view of North Pond from a rise in the trail.

Dried seed heads of cow parsnip and coast angelica.

A ruby-red California blackberry leaf glows in the autumn sun.

Dabbling ducks in North Pond.

A view of the Pacific Ocean from the trail.

A meadow in the salt marsh is festooned with spider webs that billow in the breeze.

The lagoon.

A great egret splashes in the lagoon.

Part 2 here.
