Stow Lake
Stow Lake
On Saturday, after doing an errand in San Francisco, D. and I went to Golden Gate Park and took a walk around Stow Lake and it artificial island Strawberry Hill. Here are some of the pics I took.
Boat 54, where are you?

A gull bobs on the water.

A merganser looks for little fish to eat.

It's grooming time for this mallard.

Dog and ducks. Good thing he's on a leash.

Paddle boats and rowboats are available to rent for an enjoyable spin around the lake.

One of the many mallards on the lake.

A blackberry blossom catches the afternoon sun.

One of the 2 stone bridges spanning the lake's shore onto Strawberry Hill.

Berries beginning to ripen signal summer's end.

A flower spike reaches up past fern fronds into the sun's rays.

A view from Strawberry Hill across Stow Lake to the Sutro Tower atop Mt. Sutro.

The decortive railings of the Chinese pagoda on Strawberry Hill, a gift given to Golden Gate Park in 1976 from San Francisco's sister city Taipei.

The pond next to the pagoda is a peaceful place to observe nature.

It's a beautiful day to enjoy Stow Lake.

Another mallard in the lake, near the pagoda.

Trees on Strawberry Hill in the late afternoon light.

Free-range art: a piece of weaving incorporating sections of tree branches hanging from a limb above the shore of the lake sways in the wind.
