Windy Hill

Windy Hill

On Wednesday D. and I planned on visiting the Pulgas Water Temple, because it is closed on weekends (our usual time to go out) and we had a chance during the week to head over there during a break between rain storms.  But when we got there we found the entrance gates locked, so we had to find somewhere else relatively close by to visit that wouldn't have steep or uneven trails.  We settled on the lower section of Windy Hill, only 17 minutes away, and I took a few pics while we were there before I got too tired and achy and we had to come back.

We set out on the deceptively-named Ridge Trail, which is down at the bottom of the hill.

Soon we pass by Sausal Pond.

Coyote brush seed heads glow in the  late afternoon sun.

Dry grass.

Looking down the Ridge Trail.

A stand of coyote brush is backlit as the sun sinks toward the ridge.

Oak galls festoon bare branches.

A turkey vulture glides over the hillsides.
