Rancho Cañada Del Oro Open Space Preserve

Last Saturday D. and I decided to risk our luck in between rain showers and visit Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve to stroll along the Mayfair Ranch Trail.  Here are some of the pics I took before I became too tired and we had to turn around and come back home.

The trailhead by the parking lot.

A pasture pump, a.k.a nose pump, is operated by horses or cattle when they are thirsty.

The Mayfair Ranch Trail takes off through an oak woodland.

The Llagas Creek Loop Trail diverges from the Mayfair Ranch Trail.

Cranesbill, with rain droplets.

Owl's clover.

California buttercup.

Blue dicks has an awkward name but is a pretty native wildflower.

A rain droplet hangs from a blue dicks bud.

A flower crab spider hangs out under a sage flower cluster waiting for bugs to visit the blossom.

Chamise, with rain droplet.

Wild hyacinth.

Baby blue eyes.

The view from the trail where we had to turn back because I was too tired.
