Grant Lake Sunset

Grant Lake Sunset

On Monday evening D. and I went up on the flanks of Mt. Hamilton to Grant Lake in Joseph D. Grant County Park to get some sunset shots.  Here are some of the pics I took.

Grant Lake.

Water smartweed grows at the lake's edge.

A Forster's tern cruises the lake for an evening snack.

Many-flower tobacco.

A bone and foot from a Canada goose are among the remains of a creature's recent dinner on the bank of the lake.

Gumweed.

The setting sun.

A falcon is silhouetted against the evening sky.

Quiet ripples spread across the lake after a Forster's tern dives for fish.

One of a pair of Forster's terns circling the skies.

A great egret prepares to land in a tree on the lake shore.

Large flocks of birds swarm the sunset skies in preparation for roosting for the night.

Pink sky.

A darkling beetle clambers over a stick.

The dying light turns the lake orange.

Sunset at Grant Lake.
