National Wildlife Refuge, Alviso Slough Trail
On Saturday D. and I went to the National Wildlife Refuge in Alviso. I took a little walk on the Alviso Slough Trail in the southwest part of the refuge; here's part 1 of the pics I took (part 2 here).
Milk thistle in bloom.

Little sandpipers known as peeps run along the edge of a salt pond.

A willet forages in the salt pond.

A ladybug and a tiny brine fly take a rest on a large chunk of driftwood.

The Alviso Slough Trail follows a levee separating salt evaporation ponds.

Black-necked stilts forage in the ponds.
