Redwood Shores

Redwood Shores

On Sunday D. and I took a short walk around Redwood Shores, because it was nearby and flat, and we hadn't been there since 2007 (holy smokes, has it really been that long?).  Here are some of the pics I took.

The trail.

A great egret looks for fish in the water.

A hybrid mallard.

California fuchsia and roses next to the trail.

A great blue heron at the water's edge stalks and catches a little fish.

A view of the neighborhood next to the trail.

Two jets coming in for a landing at nearby San Francisco International Airport (KLM and Thomas Cook Airlines).  See the landing gear starting to lower?

A tire is stuck on a piling in the marsh at the edge of the Bay.

Broadcast antennas of KNBR (680 AM) out in the marsh.  The taller one is the main transmitter, and the smaller one is the auxiliary.

A thistle in bloom.

More jets coming in for a landing (Alaska Airlines and United).

The "top hat" structure on top of the KNBR antenna.
