Cooley Landing

Cooley Landing

On Sunday D. and I visited Cooley Landing, and here are some of the pics I took.

Looking at San Francisco Bay from the landing.

California buckwheat blossoms.

A ramada at the edge of the bay provides a bit of shade.

Dead thistles bob in the wind.

Snowy egret.

We get too close, and the egret flies off down the shore.

The shore is lined with pickleweed, which can withstand the high salinity of the bay water.

A Cessna Skyhawk flies overhead from nearby Palo Alto Airport.

Dead grasses are tinder-dry.

An estivating snail perches on a grass stalk.

Tarplant grows near coastal grasslands.
