Last December D. and I went to Mile Rock Beach in San Francisco. We took some pics. I'm writing about it now. Here's our pics; first mine, then D.'s.
Land's End, where we entered the Coastal Trail. Looking north to Marin County and Pt. Reyes.
On the trail, looking down on "Helmet Rock at Land's End." We have our doubts that this is what is labeled Helmet Rock on the maps, which is located off Baker Beach, much closer to the Golden Gate Bridge. But according to Ansel Adams, it is "Helmet Rock at Land's End." We cannot find this rock named on any map or webpage, so the monicker "Helmet Rock" will do here for now. The little rock in the distance with the white thing on it (a decommissioned light) is Mile Rock.
Looking past "Helmet Rock" into Marin County.
Mile Rock Beach. Rocky place! Miles and miles of rocks!
A big spray of surf crashes onto the rocks.
More surf and churning waters. Hawk Hill is in the distance.
One of the cool lined rocks on the beach.
Really rocky beach here. Tough going scrambling around the unforgiving boulders.
A dead aggregating anemone in a tide pool.
Mussels clustered together await high tide's return.
Graffiti on the rubble of some ruins broken on the beach.
Big rocks, little sailboat.
Another sailboat braves the open ocean.
"Helmet Rock," resplendent in the late afternoon sun, shot from the beach.
Looking back the way we came toward the Golden Gate Bridge. The small figures on the flat area on the right are at a little labyrinth created in the rock.
One last look at "Helmet Rock," shot from the Coastal Trail on the way back home.

D. took these pics.
Sailboat by Pt. Bonita, across the strait from San Franicsco.
Golden Gate Bridge from the Coastal Trail.
Mossy rock in deep shade.
Non-native nasturtium vines trailside.
Gnarled tree trunk.
Ocean spray at Mile Rock Beach.
Graffiti on ruins.
Late afternoon sun glints on the rocks offshore.
Gnarled driftwood cast up high in the beach.
The beautiful Golden Gate in late afternoon.
Looking down upon "Helmet Rock" from the trail home.
Another peaceful sailboat passing Pt. Bonita.
