Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve

Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve

Here are some pics from a visit to Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve on Monday.

First stop, Alpine Pond.

A black phoebe perches on the rail of an observation deck, waiting for insects.

Flowers in bloom -- blackberry, hawksbeard, and forget-me-nots.

Looking at Alpine Pond and its nature center from the other shore.

More wildflowers -- California buttercup, pale flax, and clarkia "Farewell-to-Spring."

Around a bend in the trail is a family of Canada geese, including 6 adorable little goslings, grazing on grasses.

A view of Horseshoe Lake.

A Western fence lizard basks on the trail.

The goose family hangs around near the lake.  The goslings are so gosh darn cute.

Nom nom nom!
