Babelfishing Poetry: "Raw Gas"
Babelfishing Poetry: "Raw Gas"
What a week! The power to my apartment building was shut off on Wednesday in order to install new equipment in my neighborhood. It was supposed to be restored by 5 PM that day, but instead it took until well after 10:00 last night to come back on -- over 37 hours! I don't know what was going on, other than they had to dig a whole new hole in the street (in addition to the 3 that were already there) to finish the work. Obviously there was an existing problem they didn't know about, or they caused a new problem during the course of their work. Or both -- after all, this is PG&E. ::*scowlyface*::
Anyway, my power is finally back on, the spoiled food has been thrown out of the fridge, and I am putting my life back together just in time to present more Babelfishing poetry, where I take song lyrics, run them through an on-line translator such as (but not necessarily) Babelfish, tweak the punctuation a bit, and wind up with a quirky kind of poem.
This week's feature is Tuareg songwriter and musician Mdou Moctar's "Taliat" (watch video and read lyrics in subtitles here). Enjoy.
Raw Gas
We have nothing.
I hear them and will listen to them.
My capital is unreasonable.
I hear them and will listen to them.
Take away its heart; it will be bad.
I have a single family.
I have a single family.
But there is also a phrase, my lord:
*Anger.* Raw gas.
We have nothing.
Please be strong.
I hear them and will listen to them.
I'm a pounder, and I'm a pounder.
I am unconcerned about the situation.
The situation is unconcerned.
Protect yourself from rude and rude love.
The honour of your heart is your honour.
That woman is not healthy.
We have nothing.
I hear them and will listen to them.
Completion of other rushes, completion of her parallel-defeat other.
