Shopping Cart Infestation
A couple of months ago the management in my apartment building issued a memo to tenants about, among other things, all the shopping carts that have been infesting the premises recently:
“Management has been noticing a lot of shopping carts stored in the Community. Please note that the Community is not a storage (sic) for any items including shopping carts. The garage is provided only for your vehicle. Moving forward, any items/shopping carts stored in the garage will be fined at your own expense.“ (I’m not entirely sure what this means. Shopping carts are being left in tenants’ parking spaces?
And if someone puts a cart in my parking space while I’m out, I’ll get fined for it? 
)
So, after reading the memo, I decided to take a tour of my building the next day to see how many shopping carts there were, and where.
First, there were four that were lined up near my elevator.
Next up, two (identical twins this time) stationed across from the laundry room door (one of which had become its own impromptu trash receptacle) (sub-total: 6).

On the 3rd floor, there were 2 abandoned across from the laundry room there.
I found none on the other floors.
Grand total: 9 shopping carts in the building that day.
A month later, other tenants were getting real tired of the infestation -- mad enough to put a sign in one of the elevators.
"Residents! Please DO NOT keep bringin shoppin carts!!! It is horrible!"
And not only does my apartment complex have an infestation inside the building, but there is a small herd of feral shopping carts clustered on the sidewalk outside next to my building’s driveway (8, plus one more out of frame):
Is this like a new kind of Little Free Shopping Cart Library?
The infestation persists to this day, in varying degrees of severity. Here's two of at least three of them on my floor, outside a storage room:
