San Francisquito Creek: Autumn Color & Stolen Safes
Sunday's visit to San Francisquito Creek in search of local autumn color led to a discovery of another cache of stolen safes. I thought the safes discovered during our previous visit there were a fluke, but apparently not -- this stretch of the creek bed is seemingly a supermarket of safes stolen from nearby homes and tossed down the steep banks, to be broken into by the thieves and rifled for valuables, out of sight from the neighborhood. Oh, there was autumn color too.
The creek bed shows a lot of autumn color. The red is poison oak, which puts on a brilliant display every fall.

Blackberry leaves are showing a lot of color as well.
Here are some of the stolen and rifled safes along this stretch of the creek.
Emptied jewelry boxes from one of the safes.
A door to a safe pried off and tossed aside.
A spring, probably from a safe.
A huge pile of all kinds of safes, plus miscellaneous trash, including furniture.
That large dark rectangle on the right is a gun safe, whose side was sawed open and all the guns and ammo removed. So much for having a sturdy door and lock on the front.
I have a feeling the police are unaware of this dumping ground.
